Our sixth and final ReKindling was our most successful one yet in terms of size and purpose. We had it at Compass church of Bolingbrook by Zeta Maniati. We had 28 teens there not including staff! It was all outside and the weather was absolutely perfect for the event. We had two hours of games, pizza, a live worship band, a devotion, and for the first time at ReKindling we had a bonfire with s’mores! We also had a great time of dedicated fellowship time.
The event went really smoothly despite having many moving parts. We had two carpool times for the convenience of parents and students. We had a live worship band lead worship with that part being a favorite part of many of the teens and people there. We also had a devotion led by our intern Matthew Nagle about staying rooted in the Word of God from Jeremiah 17:8.
After worship ended, as it was dark we had our bonfire with s’mores. This was a huge success with the teens. They loved the extra time to fellowship with each other. As well as the staff to pour discipleship into the students and invite them to CYIA. This time is a favorite of everyone all around as many teens don’t get to see each other much outside of ReKindling.
As this being the last ReKindling, we hoped it was encouraging to them to be spurred on for summer ministry. Our purpose of ReKindling is to encourage teens and keep them excited about summer ministry. We believe this goal was accomplished as many teens have since signed up for CYIA or promised to sign up soon.
