Recently, a principal at a Chicago public school invited her Good News Club teachers to talk about GNC with each classroom. They came upon one classroom watching a video about the recent passing of Kobe Bryant. Their teacher shared how Kobe Bryant had many inspiring quotes and how he was an inspiration to so many. She said “life isn’t about what we do or what we experience. Life is about how you grow as an individual.” After she had finished her talk she invited the GNC teachers up to the front of the class. They shared about how Good News Club (GNC) is a free after school program run by Child Evangelism Fellowship. The clubs are designed around teaching elementary school kids about God. The hour class is filled with gospel-infused bible lessons, memory verses, and songs. When they had finished the school teacher smiled. She shared excitedly how GNC was the answer to the statement that she had just made. Some of the students responded by sharing that they go to church and know God personally while others shared that they did not.
The youth were encouraged to ask their parents if they could attend the club. The teachers received many permission slips that week and that club grew and continues to grow by God’s grace. The GNC teachers walked away from that classroom knowing God put them at the right place at the right time. Please continue to pray for the ministry of CEF and the missionaries, the volunteers, the schools throughout Chicagoland, the administrators, the youth and their families.
Child Evangelism Fellowship has been in public school for decades and their missions statement is clear “Our goals are to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel, disciple them in God’s Word and establish unchurched children and their families into Bible-teaching churches.”. With your help, we can continue to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the over 1.1 children throughout Chicagoland. Would you consider giving financially to CEF or volunteer to start up a local GNC in your area’s public school.
