Take Root

Christian Youth In Action is CEF Chicago’s 11-day training camp for teens ages 12-19. Linnea was one of this year’s Summer Staff. Along with leading a team during CYIA and summer, teaching clubs, and being an incredible example to the younger students, Linnea was baptized this summer. While at the training she and other teens are surrounded by a strong Christian community. Students grow in their faith as they are equipped to share the gospel using different evangelistic methods and tools. Linnea shared with us how the training impacted her faith. Read her testimony below on how CYIA helped her faith take root.

Linnea – “One of the most significant impacts on my current walk of faith has been Christian Youth In Action, a summer training program which leads teens through 2 weeks of intensive training and practical experience in teaching the gospel to children through backyard Bible clubs. When I entered this program in 2016, I didn’t realize how much I would learn about my faith through the process of teaching and discipling others. However, I soon discovered that there’s something meaningful about presenting the narrative of the gospel on a child’s level, something which has helped me to more fully understand God’s love, my sin, Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, and the gift which he offers to those who believe in him. These truths may seem obvious to those who grew up in the church, but I hadn’t taken them to heart until I began teaching the gospel to the children of Chicago. I don’t have an exact date which I can point to as the moment I truly understood the message of salvation and placed my faith in Jesus alone, but I know that because of God’s work in my life through Christian Youth in Action, my faith began to take root in my life and to change me from the inside out.”
