Above is a training class where we are teaching teachers how to present the gospel to children using the Wordless Book method. One teacher who took the training not only used what she learned with children but with adult inmates in the Cook County jail. The following is her story of how God, in His sovereignty, used His life-changing message in an unexpected way:
“I am a chaplain for the boot camp at the Cook County jail, ministering to young men, ages 17-34, for Sunday morning services. I was led by the Holy Spirit to give the Gospel of Jesus Christ, using the teaching from the Wordless Book. The first time that I ministered this way was a month ago and the response was astronomical. There are usually 100-125 men in the service and during a normal altar call, there may be several young men to respond to God’s call to salvation. After ministering according to the teaching from the Wordless Book, there was an overwhelmingly positive response from almost the entire congregation of young men. I did teach the green page, which is all about spiritual growth after salvation, and the young men were able to recite back to me what each letter stood for after the teaching accordingly.
This past Sunday, I brought the large Wordless Book with me to the service and was able to demonstrate and teach the gospel by holding the book up high and walking around the room so that all would be able to see and respond to the teaching. Praise God, it happened again, to God be the glory! I just want to thank the CEF Chicago team for your unyielding faith and patience in the teaching that you shared with all of us—it really works and I know that the age does not matter; God works in all ages.” – Chaplain Izona
