As kids filed out of the Good News Club classroom after the Bible lesson, Kaitlin timidly came up to her teacher, “I hear voices in my head telling me not to talk to you, but I know I’m lost like that sheep in the story the good shepherd told,” she whispered, plucking nervously at the hem of her shorts.
The teacher smiled. “The enemy doesn’t want people to be found, but Jesus gave His blood—He died and came alive again—to help lost people get found.” They talked some more; she prayed; they walked out of the classroom with a big grin.
A year passed. The teacher was able to return to that same club again, she finished teaching the Bible lesson and watched the children file out, all but one. Kaitlin waited until the others had left, but she didn’t timidly come up to the teacher this time — she walked boldly. “Hi! I prayed with you last year to be found.” Kaitlin’s face lit up with a smile. “I don’t hear those voices anymore. I’ve been reading the Bible and praying.”
God is more powerful than the power of evil. How often and easily do we forget this fact. Good News Club teaches children that the God who created all things is bigger than the power of sin and wants a relationship with them. Kaitlin’s life was changed forever because of the teacher who was willing to share the good news with her.
