Trickster Twin

A lot of things happen at a Good News Club—games, stories, snacks, Bible lessons, memory verses, songs, and so much more. But, the programming aside, something very important happens at these after-school programs—lives are changed.

Giabella and her identical twin sister Layla are two seven-year-old girls that attend one of our Good News Clubs. Both girls are fabulously creative and imaginative (and perhaps even a little mischievous as they seem to enjoy tricking the club volunteers by switching identities from time to time.) Eager to learn and ask questions, both girls would flood the teachers with questions once the Bible lesson is presented. During such an occurrence, one of the CEF volunteers explained how she had come to faith in Jesus at the age of 14 at a summer camp and how that had changed her life. From that moment on, Giabella thought deeply and daily about what the volunteer had said—how her life could be changed. She thought about it until, at the beginning of club two weeks later, she approached this volunteer and asked to talk to her, opting out of whatever game we were about to play. She explained how she had been thinking about what the volunteer had told her and explained how she wanted to receive Jesus as her Savior from her sin! And, truly, Giabella’s life was changed that day. Since then, she has received her first Bible, and without fail, she has always brought it to club— flipping to each and every verse mentioned in the Bible lesson so she could read it for herself! Twice as eager to learn as she was before, Giabella strives to learn as much as she can about her self-described hero and her friend, Jesus Christ. From forgiving others to standing up for those who are being bullied, this energetic, smiling, little girl continues to grow in her faith each and every day—along with her twin sister Layla, who trusted in Jesus as her own Savior a few weeks after Giabella. A lot of things happen at a Good News Club, but the most important of them all is when a life and eternity is changed forever.
